From the video description:

In September 2011, the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board voted to close P.C.V.S. after a decision from the Administrative Review Committee (ARC). One of the oldest high schools in Canada and the only downtown school in Peterborough, P.C.V.S. is a vital part of the downtown core. It is impossible to quantify the devastating impact the closure of this unique arts focused high school could have on generations of future students in Peterborough. Please join the hundreds of community members and voices that truly believe Peterborough needs P.C.V.S.

This kind of talent and freedom of expression will be lost if we allow PCVS to close. These young women rock! Please join our cause and help fight to keep PCVS open! No factory school for out children!!!

Wow, what will happen to these two next year when they have no forum for this incredible outlet and talent? Some unaccepting school where they cannot shine from within?
A devastating loss to a community in this time of bullying and cruelness to those who do not happen to fall within the standard norms. I have heard this is the school where you are accepted regardless of your sexual identity, size, nerdiness, eccentricities or other characteristics that are a target for marginalization at other schools. It is a place of celebration of difference.
I cannot even imagine how the closure of this program is being contemplated when these kids are swallowed by their larger, non arts program school.

PCVS is a model school that ANY school board would be proud to have. There is ZERO BULLYING…nada…none. PCVS is so many things all rolled in one package that just cannot be reproduced anywhere else. The Integrated Arts students are going one school who will recreate the program there, and the remaining 60% of the student will be split off to the remaining 3 highschools. The students and alumni of PCVS, LOVE this place!!…and amazing as it sounds these TEENAGERS consider this place HOME. Home! …can you believe that? WOW. This is an absolute shame, what is happening. 184 years.

when I first heard these lady’s incredible harmonies I had no idea they were high-school students.

wtf were the bean counters thinking when they decided to close a place that cherishes and incubates such talent? I thought that the U.S. was the only place stupid enough to do that sort of thing.

    apparently I was wrong.

Got something to say?
