Much as I love Rocky & Balls I take grievous exception to bowdlerizing any work of art, whether it’s by the artist’s behest or not.

If you don’t feel comfortable singing “fuck you” don’t write it in your lyrics. Singing “*bleep* you” is not a recourse, it’s a cop-out. Reword the lyric or just stand up (*ahem* with rocky balls) and sing what you mean.

This may well be the first comment I’ve left here that will be deleted. I mean no offense, but I feel pretty strongly about the subject. It really *is* a matter of “be true to your artistic vision or just shut up.” Because your artistic vision is not subject to some amorphous group of easily offended people, it’s *your* artistic vision.

    I’ll stop ranting now.

Objection heard and gladly allowed, but if it is their artistic vision, and they choose to “bleep” themselves, does that not make the self bleeping part of their vision? Maybe not right for you, but it could be the truest expression of their voice.

Got something to say?
